Taxpayers can avoid a “very nasty surprise” by making quarterly payments by Sept. 15

The deadline for third-quarter estimated taxes is September 15th, applying to income from self-employment, small businesses, investments, gig economy work and more. If you have not been sending part of your income to the IRS in recent months, today is the last chance to avoid a tax penalty.

However, in some cases, entrepreneurs can decide to not make the estimated payment. Recently, our CEO Marianela Collado was quoted on CNBC sharing her thoughts on why some filers may purposely skip tax payments, despite being charged a late fee.
